• SAIC VDS2/VDS3/VDI2/VDI3/SIPS/GRADE-X; the VDI2 hardware, when paired with VDS2 software, supports K-line, CAN and LIN, and is used for older models of Roewe, MG and Maxus to perform fault code reading, data stream analysis and functional testing; VDI3 hardware paired with VDS3 software supports CAN FD and in-vehicle Ethernet (DoIP), and is compatible with newer models of Roewe, MG, Maxus and IM, enabling diagnostics and log collection for domain controllers, powertrain systems and intelligent driving systems; SIPS is a unified online programming and calibration platform. Used in conjunction with VDS, it handles ECU flashing, module coding, VIN writing, immobiliser key pairing, and ADAS and chassis calibration.
• Supported models: Vehicles from the SAIC Group’s range of brands, including IM, Roewe, MG and Maxus, as well as future models to be launched, covering the entire SAIC Group vehicle range.
• VDS (Vehicle Diagnostic System): VDS2/VDS3 diagnostic software. Reading fault codes, data streams and freeze frames; performing active function tests; and reading ECU information—all basic diagnostic tasks are carried out in VDS.
• SIPS (SAIC Integrated Program System): SIPS programming and configuration system. Online flashing and programming; module coding; configuration writing; part replacement matching; anti-theft keys; and ADAS calibration.
• VDS is solely responsible for diagnostics, whilst in-depth programming and off-line module calibration are handled by SIPS. Both systems share the VDI diagnostic communication adapter and the same authorised account, and must be connected to the SAIC server via the internet to function.
I. SIPS Programming System (SAIC Roewe/MG/Maxus/IM Motors)
SIPS: SAIC Online Programming, Configuration and Calibration Platform, used in conjunction with VDS diagnostic software and VDI2/VDI3 hardware.
• Online programming and firmware flashing for ECU modules, including version upgrades.
• New module coding, VIN writing and vehicle configuration matching.
• Anti-theft pairing: key / NFC addition, deletion and full loss pairing.
• Various specialised calibrations: ADAS cameras and radar, chassis (air suspension / four-wheel steering), sensor zero-point calibration.
• Query part numbers corresponding to the VIN, the current ECU version and the latest available firmware version on the server; compare old and new software.
II. VDS2 Diagnostic System (SAIC Roewe/MG/Maxus)
• SAIC’s second-generation original equipment diagnostic software, paired with VDI II (VDI2) hardware; a diagnostic platform compatible with older Roewe, MG and Maxus models.
• Full-vehicle scan for fault codes, real-time data streams and actuator function testing; special service functions; basic chassis service routines; capable of integrating with SIPS programming.
• UDS diagnostic protocol; supports K-line, CAN and LIN; does not support CAN FD or in-vehicle Ethernet.
III. VDS3 Diagnostic System (SAIC Roewe/MG/Maxus/IM Motors)
• SAIC’s third-generation original equipment manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic software, paired with VDI III (VDI3) hardware; a diagnostic platform compatible with the latest Roewe, MG, Maxus and IM Motors models.
• Full vehicle ECU scan, fault codes / freeze frames / message logs, high-speed data stream recording, actuator testing; air suspension, Lingxi, and ADAS-related service routines, PDI, earth leakage detection; one-click activation of SIPS.
• Supports CAN FD + in-vehicle Ethernet DoIP (ISO 13400), with no K-line required; compatible with central domain control architectures, 800V high-voltage platforms and the IM AD Max autonomous driving domain; enables high-speed reading of large volumes of sensor logs and high-throughput data streams.
IV. Contents of the SAIC Genuine Diagnostic Kit (VDI2 / VDI3 + VDS2 / VDS3 + SIPS/GRADE-X):
VDI2 (2nd-generation diagnostic communication unit): VCI main unit, OBD main cable, USB data cable; includes K-line / CAN/LIN, for use with older Roewe, MG and Maxus models.
VDI3 (3rd-generation diagnostic communication unit): VCI main unit, OBD main cable, USB/Wi-Fi; supports CAN FD + in-vehicle Ethernet DoIP; for newer Roewe, MG and Maxus models, as well as IM Motors.
VDS2: Diagnostic software, compatible with VDI2; for reading fault codes, data streams and performing functional tests on older vehicles.
VDS3: Diagnostic software, compatible with VDI3; supports IM domain control, 800V powertrain systems and intelligent driving diagnostics.
SIPS: Online programming and calibration software, launched with a single click from within VDS; ECU flashing, coding, VIN writing, key anti-theft programming, and ADAS/chassis calibration.
